Saturday Stuff June 2, 2007

I found this post card on the internet and it shows the Lamar Building before the penthouse was added onto the top. Without the penthouse, it was still the tallest building not only in Augusta but in the southeast at that time.

The following pictures are of Bobby Jones, the famous golfer. I will be talking about him a lot because he accomplished a feat never matched afterward. Here he is at 14 years of age:

Augusta has the Georgia Hall of Fame in the form of statues of famous golfers in a botanical garden setting. I will be taking pictures soon of the garden to put on the blog. Here is the main attraction in the garden, the statue of Bobby Jones:

Just next to the Botanical Garden is this outdoor arcade walkway with this water fountain.
Lucy has made herself at home right with the other cats.
Linda drove to the post office Saturday and I took this picture of the Lamar Building as it is today with the penthouse on top.

Another shot of the Lamar Building when we approached Broad Street to go back home:

Scenes along Broad Street Saturday:
People are still taking pictures of the James Brown statue:
It was rainy all day Saturday and rained all night last night.

They have a market downtown on Saturdays:

More of Broad Street on Saturday:

Here is our favorite bakery. Linda loves the date bars that they bake right there in the kitchen:

Another train that crossed our path:

Here is our next door neighbor, Jimmie, who sits out on this porch more than half her day and here she is doing a find-a-word puzzle. This picture was taken looking into my side view mirror back at her:
