One to Thirteen

This morning I was going to put in 1 picture to at least do that much each day but I got 13 in! Be sure to click on any photo to see the original larger version.

Early yesterday morning I drove the county van down to the maintainence grounds to water down the van and clean off bugs stuck to the front. The wash stand is next to the state prison buses that are used to take prisoners out to do road work. The upper picture is one view of the prison which is on a high rise.

More views of the hills this time with morning haze.

I am always fascinated with views of railroad tracks and this one is no exception. Here I had stopped on the tracks, opened the van door, and got this shot. The tracks actually go up an incline and you can just see the opening where it comes out on Tobacco Road there.

This is a view of the old auto raceway that they are eventually going to convert back to its original state and then be used for hiking or biking. Here I am standing on one of the high embankments for a big curve that was here.

Here was where the track split and the left one verged into the pit stop area and the right one kept going on the main course.

While waiting for my usual pickup in downtown Augusta, I just had to get this shot from my driver's window looking almost straight up.

Some interesting people in town.

Lucy can sleep in any position!

I thought this was such a neat picture. That is exactly how I saw her under her toy friend.

Lucky

This is how Lucky greets us in the mornings when we go into the computer room. Needless to say, she makes it very clear what she wants!

Lucky is now 5 weeks old and already eating directly from the cat community bowl! She is not timid about how she is parked to eat.

She loves to sleep under the computer desk way over by the wall.

I had to show this picture because I was trying to get her attention while not looking through the camera and missed the mark.

I got the mark!

The Church of the Good Shepherd

This morning I went for an early morning walk and decided to go up my street to the top of the fall line. Two blocks over on top of the hill is this Church of the Good Shepherd and for you I decided I would attend the 8am service and keep my promise I made to you.
The main church is at the center of the picture and extend to the right. The floor plan of the church is the cross. Here you are seeing the head of the cross extended to the left and the left arm of the cross is extended to the right.

The steeple is over the long portion of the cross just under where the arms are joined.

This is looking down the longest portion of the church and there are shorter extensions off the sides for the arms of the cross. The stained window of Jesus holding the lamb is beautiful that the picture did not capture well.

I tried to get a good picture of the beautiful woodwork in the ceiling.

One of the many stained glass windows. This one was next to where I sat.

This is the view at the foot of the cross. I now realized that the steeple is on a short tower next to the main portion of the church.

This is on the exterior of the church at the head portion of the cross, below the beautiful stained window of Jesus holding the lamb.

One of several small garden settings.

This is inside the hall over in the biggest building.

One of the classrooms. Yes, they have very comfortable chairs and even have foot stools to rest your feet! Now this church has got the right idea as to what is important, the people.

One of several paintings in the halls. This one was quite impressive I thought.

Speaking of impressive artwork, this one is carved out of a single block of wood!

One of many impressive doorways. The building was three story tall. This one leads out onto the balcony over the main lobby.

This tower has a meeting room at the bottom but I did not learn the significance of what the tower represents or what is in the upper portion.

This is a hand fan that was given to all who attended services. On the back is an annoucement of a 50th year celebration of the church building coming up.

Eisenhower Hospital

Went to work this morning and saw this in my rear view mirrow, the rising morning sun.

This intersection always fascinate me because as you are coming around the big curve, you first see the single traffic light on the far left and over the other traffic lanes facing this way! This is to let you know in advance what the real traffic lights are showing before you can see them.

Here is one of my favorite views on my drive at work, the view of the Eisenhower Hospital on the grounds of Fort Gordon, the army military base next to Augusta.

I am parked at a high school football field which is hidden below the parking area here. The Eisenhower Hospital can be seen on the hills in the far background.

Now looking down onto the field.

You can see the continous rim of the hills of the "bowl" in the background.

Another view taken from the back side of the football field seating ramp.

Here is another view of the hospital at Fort Gordon.

Here is the front of the high school with its view of the hills around another part of the "bowl". The buildings in the far distance is that of the big Augusta Mall complex.

Here is Orin, one of the riders I take to the work place that the county has provided for the mentally challenged. He saw me take a picture of the hospital in his neighborhood and asked me if I would take a picture of him standing in the door of the bus for his girlfriend that he says he is marrying this summer. He is quite a character.

Darling Granddaughters

Here are our darling granddaughters, Violet, April and Rose, taken at DisneyWorld.

Here is that foot bridge that my picture was taken on as part of the Augusta Canal Trail.

This is showing the railings I put up on the edge of the back porch and down the sides of the steep steps. I took a huge fall few months ago and landed flat on my face landing just beyond the bottom step. In the top photo is the stray mother cat who came to our house and adopted us as well as bringing us three of her kittens to live on the porch. Needless to say we have two of the three living with us indoors, one died.

I took these pictures today on my drive showing the extent of the fire that destroyed the old Augusta Flea Market. Abby, Paul and the girls went here when they first came to visit us.

Here is Tobacco Road leading down to the Augusta Airport region. You can just see some of the landing strip which is on the flat next to the Savannah River. I took these today.

While waiting for a client, I took this picture today next to the Confederate Monument.

And of course, while waiting I glanced up and took a picture of the penthouse that is the highest point in Augusta and one where I rode the exterior elevator to see.
