The Church of the Good Shepherd

This morning I went for an early morning walk and decided to go up my street to the top of the fall line. Two blocks over on top of the hill is this Church of the Good Shepherd and for you I decided I would attend the 8am service and keep my promise I made to you.
The main church is at the center of the picture and extend to the right. The floor plan of the church is the cross. Here you are seeing the head of the cross extended to the left and the left arm of the cross is extended to the right.

The steeple is over the long portion of the cross just under where the arms are joined.

This is looking down the longest portion of the church and there are shorter extensions off the sides for the arms of the cross. The stained window of Jesus holding the lamb is beautiful that the picture did not capture well.

I tried to get a good picture of the beautiful woodwork in the ceiling.

One of the many stained glass windows. This one was next to where I sat.

This is the view at the foot of the cross. I now realized that the steeple is on a short tower next to the main portion of the church.

This is on the exterior of the church at the head portion of the cross, below the beautiful stained window of Jesus holding the lamb.

One of several small garden settings.

This is inside the hall over in the biggest building.

One of the classrooms. Yes, they have very comfortable chairs and even have foot stools to rest your feet! Now this church has got the right idea as to what is important, the people.

One of several paintings in the halls. This one was quite impressive I thought.

Speaking of impressive artwork, this one is carved out of a single block of wood!

One of many impressive doorways. The building was three story tall. This one leads out onto the balcony over the main lobby.

This tower has a meeting room at the bottom but I did not learn the significance of what the tower represents or what is in the upper portion.

This is a hand fan that was given to all who attended services. On the back is an annoucement of a 50th year celebration of the church building coming up.
